A Quickie
Things are pretty hectic around here right now, so this is going to be a short one. Check out these articles for some good reading.

It appears as though the President may want to forget about Poland.

It looks as though we owe some people an apology. I'm sure they'll understand.

- Poland said that it aims to withdraw all of its 2,500 troops from Iraq during the course of next year, a major disappointment for Washington which sees Warsaw as one of its staunchest allies in Iraq.

- Most of the prisoners being held at the U.S. military base at Guantanamo Bay are expected to be released or extradited, the deputy commander of the unit that runs the base was quoted on Tuesday as saying.
Brig. Gen. Martin Lucenti told the Financial Times the United States did not have enough evidence to prosecute all of the prisoners, alleged to be al Qaeda and Taliban fighters.

- Televised debates rarely decide an election, but last Thursday's was a turning point in this one. It arrested the malaise that had settled around John Kerry's campaign, and punctured the aura of inevitable victory that had begun to enshroud the George Bush camp.
As surprisingly substantive as this 90-minute debate was, what made it a decisive win for Kerry was not any specific policy argument, but an overall impression that Bush is disconnected from reality.
