Pee Wee's Big Adventure

A.K.A. - Bush's Big Break

Well, it finally happened. Georgieboy is going to get to appoint someone to the SCOTUS. With the resignation of Sandra Day O'Connor, Bush has been given an amazing opportunity. If he's smart enough to take advantage of it.

With Bush's approval numbers in the tank and the opinion of Congress at a frightening low, Georgieboy has to be careful about his choice for an appointee. On the one hand, he could choose to pander to the rightwing ideologues and nominate an ultra-conservative that would have the Dobson crew salivating like a St. Bernard. Or on the other hand, he could nominate a moderate that would be easily confirmed and bring both sides together in a show of bipartisanship thus helping his public image as well as the image of the Congress. So what will he do? Stubbornly hold to the ideals of the crazies and alienate even more of the country or use some common sense and actually try to be a "uniter" for a change?

Let's just say I'm not going to hold my breath. It reminds me of that old saying, "There's nothing common about common sense." Boy don't we know it.

Have a great weekend everybody! I'll be back on Monday night.

BTW - If you're a member over at dailyKos, please read and recommend this diary so we can bump it up to the recommended list. My sister-in-law is in need of some advice. Thanks!
